Welcome to the Atelier!I'm Josée Levesque, a painter from the Basses-Laurentides region of Québec, and my work is deeply rooted in the beauty of the natural world. With a background in applied arts and fashion design, I've spent decades channeling my love of texture and form into sculptural oil paintings that invite you to look a little closer. My journey has taken me from the galleries of Paris and Barcelona to the streets of Aix-en-Provence, where I had the honour of contributing to a collection celebrating Cézanne's centennial. Today, I continue to grow my craft through a Master Class with Maxime Lacourse, and I'm proud to be an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and a board member of La Route des Arts. Whether shown at the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair or intimate regional exhibitions, my paintings are always a reflection of the same thing: a deep, personal connection to the world around me. |

My work is all about floral paintings that celebrate the richness and fragility of the natural world. I'm endlessly fascinated by nature's quiet language, the textures, the movement, the way light catches a petal or dances through leaves. In every piece, I'm chasing that sweet spot where raw, instinctive brushwork meets careful, intentional detail. I work with both brush and palette knife, and I love that tension between control and letting go. I build up layers of paint, letting it shift and rise from the surface, so it almost feels like the flowers and foliage are pushing their way out of the canvas to meet you. I tend to get in close. Really close. Because I want you to feel like you're standing right there, nose to nose with a bloom or lost in a tangle of leaves. My hope is that my paintings give you that rare, unhurried moment where you slow down, breathe, and let the quiet beauty of the natural world wash over you.
